Grand Cayman Cruise Ship Photos

At George Town, you’ll often see a Grand Cayman cruise ship. This page captures some of the many beautiful ships that call into George Town. Grand Cayman is a popular stop on the Caribbean run.

When the ships arrive, they often arrive together and the bay is filled with them. They tower over George Town, where there are only a handful of tall buildings, to such an extent that from the other side of the island, say Cayman Kai, the ships look like the real town center.

George Town harbor isn’t deep enough for these vessels so they stand out in the bay and visitors come ashore on tenders. Keep that in mind if you aren’t very steady on your feet — though I think you’ll find everyone can come ashore on a tender because the ship-to-tender transfer is very safe at each end.

As the song says, islanders love cruise ship people and the whole West End starts to buzz when they arrive. Excursion buses wait on the dockside to take the visitors to all the hot spots, like Seven Mile Beach or the Turtle Farm. The ship above is the Star Princess.

Islanders like the ‘ship people’, I like ships — and planes and trains — which is why I have all these photos to show. The photo above shows cruise ships unloading at George Town harbour.

 Another cruise line to look out for is Royal Caribbean. Below is one of theirs, Freedom of the Seas’ visiting George Town. Having sailed on the RCI ship, Radiance of the Seas’, I can certainly recommend that cruise ship company.
